Things You’ll Need:
Empty toilet paper roll
Yellow and black cardstock
Googly eyes
Black pipe cleaner
Pom poms (small)
White cardstock (for wings)
Pink paint
Glue or tape
Scissors
Black marker or sharpie
Step-by-Step Process:
Cut a rectangle of yellow cardstock to fit around the toilet paper roll. Wrap it snugly around the roll and secure the edges with glue or tape.
Cut two thin strips of black cardstock and glue them around the yellow roll to create your bee’s iconic stripes. Be sure to leave space on top for the bee’s face!
Attach two googly eyes to the front of the roll. Then, use a black marker to draw a happy smile. To make your bee extra cute, dip the end of a paintbrush in pink paint and dot little pink cheeks on either side of the smile.
Bend a black pipe cleaner into a "V" shape and glue a small pom pom to each end. Attach the antennae to the inside top of the roll with glue or tape.
Cut two simple wing shapes from white cardstock and tape or glue them to the back of the roll, making sure they’re secure.
More Tips:
Try making bees of different colors using fun shades of cardstock for a whole rainbow hive!
Use these cute bees as a fun summer decoration for your home or as part of a nature-themed learning activity.
You can replace cardstock with construction paper, specialty paper or any cardboard or stiff paper that can work with tape or glue
