Paperbag Kites
Moms Morning Memo
Looking for a last-minute project to keep the kids busy? We’ve got the perfect activity. Let’s explore this creative and easy craft that will have the little ones entertained and outdoors in no time.
Activity of the Day
Paper Bag Kites

What You'll Need
Paper lunch bags
Yarn or strong twine/string
Popsicle sticks
Scissors
Streamers
Tape
Embellishments: stickers, paint, markers, crayons, construction paper, washi tape
How to Make Your Paper Bag Kite
Start by letting the kids decorate their paper bags using stickers, washi tape, markers, paints, and other fun embellishments. Encourage them to create unique designs. Ensure any paint is fully dry before moving to the next step.
Snip a small hole in the bottom base of the bag using scissors. Cut a piece of yarn or string about 18-24 inches long. Tie one end to the middle of a popsicle stick and then feed the other end through the hole. The popsicle stick will act as an anchor so the string doesn’t pull out while the kite is flying.
Attach colorful streamers to the open end of the bag using tape. These will add some extra flair and help your kite glide smoothly.
Your paper bag kite is now ready for action! Head outside and watch your creations soar. You can even tie them to a tree and enjoy watching them flutter around.
Why you love this activity:
Seeing the kids get creative with their designs is always a delight. They can choose their favorite colors and patterns to personalize their kites. The best part? The supplies are things you probably already have in your craft cabinet, making it a budget-friendly activity too. Plus, with the simplicity of this project, the kids can make multiple kites to enjoy.
The next time your little ones need a fun activity, pull out the craft supplies and get ready for some high-flying fun!
