Newspaper Hats
Moms Morning Memo
This classic activity is perfect for little adventurers and easy to set up. Whether your child is 3 or 6, you can create a hat that fits just right and personalize it with a cool pirate design. The best part? This activity if perfect for daytime play or creative story time!
Activity of the Day
Newspaper Hats

Let’s get crafty and have a blast making this simple, hands-on creation!
What You’ll Need:
A large piece of newspaper
Scissors
Scotch tape
Paint and brushes (or markers)
Glue
Step-by-Step Process:
Unfold your large piece of newspaper completely. If you're making the hat for younger kids, like ages 3-6, you’ll want to cut off about ¼ of the paper to get the size just right.
Fold the newspaper in half and then fold both outer corners down to meet in the middle, creating a pointy top. Secure the corners with a couple of pieces of scotch tape to keep the shape.
At the bottom of your hat, you’ll see two layers of newspaper. Take one layer and fold it up toward the point, securing with tape if needed. Turn the hat over and do the same on the other side.
Level up the fun!
Let the kids be creative with colors and extra decorations—why not add some glitter or stickers to really make it pop?
Go all out! Use what’s left of the newsletter to create a pretend telescope or maybe even an eye patch!
This activity is not only fun but also a great opportunity to boost imagination and let kids express their creativity. Plus, it’s a perfect craft for a pirate-themed party or just a day of pretend play!
