Activity of the Day

Fire Breathing Dragon Craft

What You’ll Need:

  • Toilet paper roll or cut piece of a paper towel roll

  • Green paint

  • Paintbrush

  • Red, yellow, and orange tissue paper

  • Green pom poms

  • Glue gun, glue dots, or crafter’s tape

  • Googly eyes

  • Scissors or an exacto knife for adult use

Step-by-step Process:

  • If you don't want to use a toilet paper roll, cut a paper towel roll or a wrapping paper tube to size. Mark the line and use scissors or an exacto knife (adults only) to cut it.

  • Paint the roll green and let it dry completely.

  • Cut strips of red, yellow, and orange tissue paper to mimic flames. They should be long enough to flow out when you blow through the tube.

  • Glue the tissue paper strips inside one end of the tube. Make sure to cover the opening fully with the strips to get a “fire” effect.

  • Glue green pom poms around the tube's top to create the dragon's head.

  • Attach googly eyes to the pom poms to give your dragon a playful appearance.

  • Let everything dry and set before playing with your dragon.

Pro Tips:

Glue Choice: For sticking pom poms, a mini glue gun works best. If crafting with children, crafter’s tape or glue dots are safer alternatives.

Color Variations: Feel free to use any color for your dragon. Mix and match the colors you have at home.

Alternative Tubes: You can buy unused toilet paper rolls from online stores if you're planning many paper roll crafts.
