DIY Piggy Bank
Moms Morning Memo
Teaching kids the value of saving money doesn’t have to be boring—let’s make it a hands-on, creative experience! Today, we’re crafting a cute little piggy bank from everyday materials. This project is perfect for kids who love to paint and create, and it’s a great way to start a conversation about money management in a fun, engaging way.
Activity of the Day
DIY Piggy Bank

Things You’ll Need:
Empty, clean plastic drink bottle
Acrylic paint
Paintbrush
Scissors
Pink craft paper
Marker pen or googly eyes
Glue or double-sided tape
4 extra bottle tops
Craft knife (for adult use only)
Step-by-Step Process:
Start by cutting a strip of pink craft paper to wrap around the middle section of the bottle. This will form the body of your piggy bank.
Mark a small coin-shaped rectangle in the center of the pink strip. Stick the strip onto the bottle, then ask an adult to carefully cut out the rectangle to make a slot for coins.
Paint the bottle’s lid with pink acrylic paint. Once it’s dry, use a marker to draw two nostrils, giving your piggy bank its cute snout.
Stick on googly eyes or draw eyes onto the front of the bottle. Then, cut out two ear shapes from the pink craft paper and glue them near the top of the bottle.
Cut a long, thin strip of pink craft paper, twist it to form a curly tail, and attach it to the back of the bottle.
Use the extra bottle tops to create legs for your piggy bank. Simply glue or tape them to the bottom of the bottle.
Once everything is assembled, your piggy bank is ready to be filled with coins. Enjoy watching your kids learn the joy of saving their pennies in a bank they made themselves!
More Tips:
Encourage your kids to get creative—add spots, stripes, or even glitter to their piggy banks.
Make it a family activity! Everyone can create their own piggy bank and see who can save the most.
Use this craft as an opportunity to talk about saving money, setting goals, and the importance of being responsible with finances.
💡 Inspiration
Crafts your kids can actually use 💡
Make your own bowls (decorating them is the BEST part)
The Forever Hug (it’s a crowd favorite for a reason)
Cardboard TV (literally screen time minus the screen 😆)
These activities got soooooo much love ❤️
