What You'll Need:
Blue Jello mix
Small plastic ocean animals
Large shallow container
Water
Refrigerator
Tongs or tweezers
Step-by-Step Process
Follow the instructions on the Jello mix box to prepare the blue Jello. Pour the mixture into the large shallow container.
Before the Jello sets, place the small plastic ocean animals into the mix, spreading them out so they are submerged and appear to be "swimming" in the ocean.
Place the container in the refrigerator and let the Jello set completely. This usually takes a few hours, so it might be a good idea to prepare this part the night before.
Once the Jello is fully set, it's time for the rescue mission. Give your child tongs or tweezers and let them dig through the Jello to find and rescue all the ocean animals.
Why You'll Love This Activity:
This Jello Ocean Animal Rescue is not only a blast for toddlers, but it's also a great way to develop their fine motor skills. Digging through the Jello to find the hidden animals helps improve hand-eye coordination and dexterity. Plus, it's a fun way to introduce your child to ocean life and the idea of animal rescue.
Extra Tips:
Make it educational by talking about the different types of ocean animals as your child finds them.
For added fun, let your child eat the Jello after all the animals have been rescued.
This activity can get messy, so be sure to lay down a plastic tablecloth or do it outside if possible.
