Things You’ll Need:
A balloon
A plastic bottle
A straw
Water
Tape or glue
Scissors
Step-by-Step Process:
Cut a small hole near the bottom of the plastic bottle. Insert the straw into the hole and secure it with tape or glue to make sure it doesn’t leak.
Pour water into the bottle until it’s just below the level of the straw. Make sure the straw is angled upward.
Inflate the balloon and hold the neck tightly to keep the air in. Stretch the balloon’s neck over the bottle’s mouth, making sure it’s sealed well.
Release the neck of the balloon while holding the bottle steady. Watch as the air from the balloon pushes water through the straw, creating a fun and refreshing fountain.
Pro Tips:
Try using different sizes of balloons and bottles for varied fountain effects
Experiment with the angle of the straw to change the direction of the water spray
Have a balloon fountain race to see whose fountain sprays the farthest
Why we love this activity
The balloon fountain is a fantastic way to cool off and have fun outside. Kids will love the surprise and excitement of watching the water spray out, and it’s a great way to stay cool on a hot day.
