Homemade Bouncy Balls
Moms Morning Memo
Let's get hands-on and create something fun today—homemade bouncy balls!
This is a great activity that kids will love, and it’s a simple way to explore some basic science concepts while having a blast. Plus, there's nothing quite like the satisfaction of making your own toys from scratch.
Activity of the Day
Homemade Bouncy Balls

Things You'll Need:
Plastic container
Spoon
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/8 cup water
Food coloring (your choice of color)
Optional: glitter for extra fun
Step-by-Step Process:
Start by putting 2 tablespoons of cornstarch into your plastic container.
Pour in 1/8 cup of water, and stir until you have a smooth, paste-like mixture.
Drop in a bit of food coloring to brighten up your bouncy ball. If you’re feeling fancy, sprinkle in some glitter too!
Microwave the mixture for 30 seconds to help it set. After heating, let it cool for about 2 minutes before handling it.
Once the mixture is cool enough, roll it into a ball shape. Make sure it’s nice and round!
Leave your bouncy ball to dry for at least 10 hours before putting it to the test.
More tips to level up the fun
Encourage your kids to experiment with different colors and add-ins like glitter to personalize their bouncy balls.
This activity is perfect for a family afternoon—everyone can make their own ball and see whose bounces the highest.
