Step-by-step Process:
Fill the Glass Pour water into a clear glass or jar until it’s about three-quarters full.
Mix the Colors In a separate bowl, add a few tablespoons of oil. Then, add several drops of different food coloring to the oil. Use a fork to gently mix the oil and food coloring. You want the food coloring to break into smaller droplets but not mix entirely with the oil.
Combine Slowly pour the oil and food coloring mixture into the glass of water. Watch as the food coloring begins to sink and spread out, creating a beautiful display of underwater fireworks.
You and your kids will love this!
This experiment shows how oil and water don’t mix, while the food coloring, denser than oil, sinks through the oil and disperses in the water. It’s a fantastic way to see science in action, and the results are truly mesmerizing.
Pro Tips:
Use different colors of food coloring to create a more vibrant display
Try using different amounts of oil and food coloring to see how it affects the fireworks
