Activity of the Day
Tin Can Windsock Craft

Transform an empty can into a colorful outdoor decoration
Things You’ll Needed
Empty tin can
Paint and paintbrushes
Colorful ribbons or streamers
Glue or tape
Scissors
String or yarn
Hole punch (optional)
Extra Tips
Use different textures of ribbons for a varied look.
Hang the windsock where it can catch the breeze, like on a porch or a tree branch.
Make several windsocks in different colors and sizes for a festive outdoor display.
Step-by-Step Process:
Clean and dry the empty tin can. Paint the outside with bright colors and let it dry completely.
Cut ribbons or streamers to your desired length. Glue or tape them around the bottom edge of the can so they hang down freely.
If you have a hole punch, punch two holes on opposite sides of the top edge of the can. Thread a piece of string or yarn through the holes and tie the ends together to create a loop for hanging. If you don’t have a hole punch, you can tape the string inside the can.
Add any extra decorations to your windsock, such as stickers, glitter, or drawings, to make it unique.
Why Kids Love This Craft
Kids enjoy painting and decorating the can, and the finished windsock is a fun and interactive decoration that moves in the wind. It’s a great way to reuse materials and encourage creativity.
