Step-by-step Process:

  1. Collect smooth, flat rocks from your yard or a nearby park. Make sure they are clean and dry.

  2. Traditional prehistoric art used natural colors like reds, browns, and blacks, but feel free to use any colors your kids enjoy.

  3. Think about images that early humans might have painted—animals, people, handprints, and symbols. Use the paints or paint pens to create your designs on the rocks.

  4. Let the paint dry completely. If you want to preserve your artwork, apply a coat of sealant spray once the paint is dry.

Pro tip:

Set up a mini exhibition at home with your rock art. Encourage your kids to explain their artwork and what it represents, adding a storytelling element to the project.
