Paper Plate UFO
Moms Morning Memo
Are your little ones ready to explore the outer reaches of creativity? This week, we’re embarking on an interstellar adventure with a fun and easy paper plate UFO craft. Perfect for kids who love all things space, this activity will spark their imagination and give them a taste of life beyond Earth.
Activity of the Day
Paper Plate UFO

Create your own flying saucer with household items!
Things You’ll Need:
Paper plates (2 per UFO)
Paints, markers, or crayons
Glue or tape
Scissors
Aluminum foil
Small plastic cup (optional)
Stickers, sequins, or other decorations
Step-by-step Process:
Start by decorating the bottom side of two paper plates. Use paints, markers, or crayons to make them look like a spaceship. Think bright colors, alien symbols, or even a pilot’s window.
If you have a small plastic cup, you can create a cockpit dome. Cover the cup with aluminum foil and glue or tape it to the center of one plate. This will be the top of your UFO.
Place the two paper plates together, decorated sides facing out, and secure them with glue or tape. Make sure the edges are well-aligned so your UFO looks sleek and aerodynamic.
Add stickers, sequins, or any other decorations to give your UFO some extra flair. You can also draw alien pilots peeking out of the cockpit.

Pro tip:
Once your UFOs are complete, set up a space-themed play area. Use blankets to create a space station or build a rocket out of cardboard boxes. Encourage your kids to tell stories about their space adventures and the aliens they meet.
Why we love this activity
Building these UFOs is a fantastic way to encourage creative thinking and hands-on activity. It’s more than just making a toy—it’s about dreaming up space adventures and sparking curiosity about the universe.
