Homemade Moon Sand
Moms Morning Memo
Boring day? Not with Moms Morning Memo. Today, we’re sending you and your little ones to the moon! Well, kind of. Today, we’ll actually be whipping up some moon sand! It’s simple, it’s fun, and yes, it’s a bit messy—but in the best way possible. Imagine the smile on your child’s face when they get their hands in this stuff!
Activity of the Day
Homemade Moon Sand

Grab a few kitchen staples, and you’re halfway there.
Things you’ll need:
8 cups of all-purpose flour
1 cup of baby oil
Large mixing bowl
Airtight storage container (because you’ll want to keep this around)
Step-by-step Process:
Dump the flour in the bowl, pour in the baby oil, and mix away. This is the part where you might just find yourself playing too. The texture is irresistible.
Once it's mixed, set it down in front of your kiddo and watch what happens. They’ll press it, shape it, cut it—maybe even make moon sand angels. Who knows?
If there’s any left when they're done, pop it into that airtight container. If not, well, it’s easy enough to make more next time.
Why we love this activity
Moon sand isn’t just a way to keep your child entertained. It’s a tactile experience that’s good for their development. They’ll squish and shape, improving fine motor skills while they play. And because it’s made from common household items, it’s easy on the wallet and safe for kids.
Join in. Make some sand alongside them. Ask what they’re building and imagine right along with them. Today isn’t just about making play sand; it’s about making memories. Those moments of shared laughter and creativity—that’s the good stuff. The stuff we’re all here for.
