Things You’ll Need
Small plastic dinosaurs
Balloons
Water
Freezer
Tools for excavation (plastic spoons, droppers, brushes)
Step-by-Step Process:
Stretch the opening of a balloon and place a small plastic dinosaur inside. Fill the balloon with water until it forms an egg shape, then tie it securely.
Put the water-filled balloons in the freezer and let them freeze completely. This will take a few hours, so it's best to prepare them the night before.
Once the water is frozen, cut away the balloon to reveal the frozen dinosaur egg inside.
Provide your kids with plastic spoons, droppers with warm water, and brushes to start excavating the dinosaurs from the ice. They can chip away, melt, and brush off the ice to uncover their prehistoric treasures.
Pro Tips:
Add a few drops of food coloring to the water for colorful dinosaur eggs.
Use a variety of small tools to make the excavation more interesting.
Encourage kids to imagine they’re real paleontologists uncovering ancient fossils.
Why Kids Love It:
Kids everywhere rave about frozen dinosaur eggs because they blend the thrill of a treasure hunt with the fun of ice play. The challenge of freeing the dinosaurs keeps them entertained, and the icy textures are perfect for hot days.
