Cheeky Crow Puppet
Moms Morning Memo
Have your scissors and glue ready? Today, we're diving into a playful craft that's as fun to make as it is to play with afterward. We’re creating a crow puppet, perfect for storytelling or just a bit of cheeky fun around the house. This isn't just any bird; crows are known for their intelligence and cunning, making our puppet project not only an art activity but also a gateway into learning about one of nature's most fascinating birds.
Activity of the Day
Cheeky Crow Puppet
Craft this clever bird with personality to spare.

Things You'll Need:
Black construction paper
A pair of scissors
Strong glue
Googly eyes
Optional: real or synthetic black feathers
A wooden craft stick
Optional: black paint for the stick
Step-by-Step Process:
Trace and cut out the silhouette of a crow on your black construction paper. Think sleek wings, a sturdy beak, and a mischievous stance.
Fix the googly eyes onto your crow’s face. If you’ve opted for feathers, now’s the time to attach them, giving your puppet an authentic feathery feel.
If you decide to paint the craft stick black, do it now so it has time to dry. Once ready, glue it to the back of your crow, setting your bird up for its puppet debut.

Why we love this activity
Crows are not only smart; they're symbols of mystery and magic in many cultures. Building this crow puppet can lead to a fascinating discussion about bird intelligence, crow folklore, and the role of birds in ecological systems.
Once your crow is ready to fly, why not put on a puppet show? Script a short play, perhaps a fable about a clever crow outwitting larger animals, or simply let the kids improvise. It’s a fantastic way to foster creativity and narrative skills.
